Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant

Primary Supply: Teaching Assistant SEN

As the primary consultant at TARA, I am currently seeking an experienced and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to begin working within an established mainstream primary school in Shropshire.

The position is due to start immediately and will be an ongoing placement.

A supportive and friendly ethos, which is pivotal to the functioning of the school, is maintained through strong leadership and teaching. It promotes a modern and holistic approach to learning, and has invested significantly within the SEN hub, which is where the successful candidate will be located for most of the working day.

To be successful for this position, you should be a dedicated and professional Specialist Support Assistant with a passion for special educational needs.

The SENDCO is keen to appoint someone who can assist full-time members of staff in creating a stimulating and nurturing working environment for all the children within the unit.

The school has several SEN pupils with differing mild learning difficulties.

This role will be diverse, offering the candidate the opportunity to work one to one with a young boy aged 4 years old, who has a range of educational needs, including attachment disorder, ASD, ADHD & SEMH.

Positions will initially be offered for a day’s trial with a view to a full-time fixed-term contract, eventually leading to a permanent role within the school.

Applicants should meet the following criteria to apply:

* Experience of working in either an Early Years or Key Stage 1 environment

* The ability to be flexible and organised

* A passion for assisting at primary level

* Experience of working with Autistic Spectrum Disorders and ADHD

* Experience of working with the SENDCO

* Level 3 Diploma or equivalent – TA
