Site Manager & Site Supervisor

This Tier 1 major main contractor are currently in the structural / shell & core phase of a £19M valued new build hospital on the Isle of Skye, Scotland.

They have identified the need to supplement their on-site management team and recruit a Site Manager and Site Supervisor to join them for a 6 Month contract. Successful candidates will be required to have worked on large projects over recent years, on behalf of a main contractor. Clearly recent project experience in hospitals & healthcare schemes would be ideal, however they will also look at candidates with recent experience in large scale commercial, education or major sports facilities.

Accommodation on site is available on site but we are ideally looking for candidates which are located north of the border to undertake the contract.

We require a Site Manager to undertake the following responsibilities and also require a Site Supervisor to support the Site Manager in executing these requirements.

Key responsibilities will include:

Lead elements of the project team and manage the supply chain to deliver projects to time, cost and quality targets and standards

Ensure safety targets and standards are maintained by:

Knowing what safety excellence looks like and communicating safety with passion and credibility, in order to inspire, motivate and lead the project team to achieve the vision
Fostering a continuous improvement culture by actively seeking input from all members of the project team and encouraging them to implement safety improvements
Ensuring the safety and welfare of the general public, staff and supply chain
Make Safety Personal by working safely, stopping work if unsafe and speaking up to address any safety concerns
Participate in safety initiatives

Ensure sustainability targets and standards are achieved by:

Actively engaging to understand and deliver key sustainability objectives
Promoting Sustainable Solutions around all operations, particularly those related to efficient management of Waste, Energy and Water
Engaging in effective Community Engagement Plans and Skills programmes where required
Produce and regularly review short term programmes in line with the overall project programme to ensure completion on time, and ensure that project plans and schedules are robust and optimise project resources and timescales, and are communicated effectively to the project team
Understand the relevant Contract terms and conditions for each project
Proactively manage the customer relationship during delivery, including change and decision making to effectively manage expectations
Manage external consultants (e.g. design) to enable delivery - driving value, customer focus and achievement of the project's objectives
Responsible for people management on elements of the project
Ensure defects and any post completion issues, if applicable, to maintain a positive customer relationship and repeat business performance levels are managed
Ensure effective records are maintained and kept for project delivery and regularly report on project progress, risks and issues to project management

Lead, manage and deliver operational excellence and efficiency through:

Thorough implementation of planning, risk, project controls and change controls
Ensuring Visual daily management meetings are carried out to drive project performance
Implementation of best practice commercial management
Manage sub-contractors, including monitoring of contractor attendance and progress; provide direct instruction and support as necessary such that contractual arrangements are achieved
Manage labour and materials efficiently where self-executing works and monitor expenditure in accordance with the agreed Project Schedule and budget
Lead, develop and coach individuals to build high performing teams and create a pipeline of talent
Ensure a relentless focus on Zero Harm

As an individual you will possess the following skills and experience:

The ability to communicate effectively is required in order to manage customer relationships, in addition to strong planning and organisation skills to deliver operational excellence and efficiency.
Strong leadership skills, including experience of leading teams and confidence in the ability to lead, influence and communicate with others to deliver targets are required.
Financial awareness is required to deliver targets, with a desire to continuously improve safety and sustainability performance.
Current SMSTS accreditation, and an appropriate and valid CSCS card are required.
A relevant construction orientated qualification, as a minimum, SVQ Level 4, or NVQ Level 5, or alternative demonstrable trade or vocational qualification is essential
