Accounts Assistant

We are recruiting for an experienced Accounts Assistant to assist a well-established company with a beautiful office set in the town centre of Bury St Edmunds. This is a fixed term contract position beginning of July 2018 for a minimum of 12 months. The successful candidate will be assisting a highly professional and welcoming organisation. An attractive salary of £22,000 is offered and working hours are Monday-Friday 9am- 5:30pm.The role provides day to day support to the Finance Director, including (but not limited to) the following responsibilities:* Maintaining an accurate record of bookkeeping transactions
* Assisting with cash flow forecasting
* Preparing weekly, monthly & ad-hoc payment runs
* Supporting the purchase ledger function
* Responsible for processing all expense claims
* Verifying CIS calculations, reconciling monthly CIS returns & issuing monthly CIS statements
* Assisting with VAT returns & reconciliations
* Assisting with bank reconciliations
* Reconciling petty cash
* Maintaining the fixed asset register & depreciation calculations
* Reconciling monthly project Cost Value Comparisons
* Assisting with year-end audit
* Maintaining an accurate filing system
* Credit control
* Assisting in any other finance duties as requested or requiredThe ideal candidate will have:* Previous finance experience
* Good working knowledge of accountancy software
* Experienced in using SAGE
* Strong knowledge of Excel
* Studying towards AAT, ACCA or CIMA
* Excellent communication skills
