Applications Manager

Applications Manager – Inside IR35
Pertemps are currently supporting one of our higher education clients with a requirement for an Applications Manager. This is a 6 month contract paying between £450 - £500 per day Inside IR35. The post will initially be fully remote but there is an expectation that once lockdown and public health measures are eased the position will work 2 – 3 days onsite. The location is based in Wrexham, accessible by public and private transport.

The client we are supporting is one of the UK’s leading research hubs, with a real passion to drive economic and social advancement through delivering high quality education and entrepreneurial spirit in their community. They are a growing institute that hope to expand on their programmes and catalogue. As part of this the team are looking for an Applications Manager to ensure the continued availability and maintenance of their software solutions. You will work closely with the IT directorate to ensure the wider digital strategy is suitable for both the long and short term user requirements.
What will you do?
As the Application Support Manager your key tasks will be:

To line manager the IT Applications Support Team, ensuring that this team are effectively supported and guided in delivering their responsibilities.
You will work with project delivery teams, providing technical advice on the most effective tools and software solutions
You will develop technical and operational standards to ensure that quality assurance processes are maintained and monitored
Ensure that there are robust systems and processes in place across the applications portfolio
You will report on service levels and assist with troubleshooting where necessary
Work with the IT directorate to develop operational plans for the next upcoming financial year and schedule works to ensure that services are effectively coordinated
You will plan for system replacements and upgrades, making recommendations on capital investment projectsWhat are we looking for?
The key skills and experience we are looking for are:

Strong leadership and management skills
A strong background of managing and implementing IT projects
Knowledge of planning, prioritising and scheduling requests for IT services
Familiarity with and the ability to apply systems analysis and design methodologies to problem solving
The ability to analyse and provide insight into the IT needs of various user groups
Conversant with a variety of programming languages, report writers, system utilities and operating system tools.
Strong relationship building and communication skills, with the ability to effectively engage stakeholders across numerous divisionsWhat next
