Overview of the Manufacturing Engineer - Shipbuilding, Steel / Heavy Engineering contract role Working during the transition to build phase of the product life cycle, the role involves analysing the design and creating an assembly sequence and particularly pipe fitting, electrical cable installation / termination, HVAC installation There are also major items of mechanical plant to be installed and connected to pipe / electrical systems. The role requires liaising with Operations, quality, Jig & Tool, to create an assembly sequence fully integrated with a quality inspection and test plan and appropriate supporting documentation. The role also requires provision of support to Operations during the build to resolve problems and gather and implement improvements to the build sequence and supporting documentation / equipment. The type of work being undertaken is ship building, consequently lifting and orientation of materials is a significant problem to overcome and needs to be fully integrated in to the build sequence and production plan.Key skills required for the Manufacturing Engineer - Steel / Heavy Engineering The candidate must have experience of working in the transition to build phase of the product life cycle; working in discrete manufacturing industries doing heavy fabrication and out-fitting. To continue to develop the functional modelling of the next generation of submarine in terms of Strategic, Operational and Functional views. In addition champion the Model Based Engineering approach on behalf of the project. Principal Engineer - Product Safety and Environmental (Explosion Safety) (BAE(phone number removed)) - Barrow -12 Months - £55.00 Ltd As a Principal Engineer, you will lead and support explosion safety activities across submarine platforms, as well as the facilities that support the build of these platforms. You will be responsible for a range of projects which will include the authoring and review of DSEAR Assessments. Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer will include: Carrying out Dangerous Substances & Explosive Atmosphere Regulations (DSEAR) assessments Review explosion protection arrangements for new & existing buildings Raising explosion safety standards on site whilst controlling the associated risks Support to the site Fire & Explosion Lead Carrying out inspections and audits in a heavy manufacturing environment Specifying new fire protection systems and working with suppliers to install those systems Writing design specifications and other technical specifications Advising on significant upgrades on site with regards to explosion protection Undertaking peer reviews and verifications of DSEAR related documents Working closely with a broad range of stakeholders.
