Role: Plater / Welder Location: Dunbar, East Lothian, Scotland Rate of Pay: £19.38/hr LTD Start date: 05.01.21 Duration: 3-7 weeks Hours: 12hr shifts, Mon-Sun The Role: Integrate Engineering are recruiting for a team of Plater / Welders on behalf of our client for a cement plant outage in Dunbar, East Lothian. The work will involve plate repairs and welding on existing steel plate and channel. There will be a minimum of 3 weeks work, with the possibility of a further 4 weeks following inspections. As a CPCS Telehandler you will be required to operate a telehandler around a site in the Dunbar, Scotland area. Work will involve moving pallets of materials across the busy site. The work will start on Monday 20th December till Wednesday 23rd December. You would then be required to return to site on Sunday 27th December till Wednesday 30th December. And right now, our eight existing nuclear sites generate 9,000 megawatts per year through 15 reactors, avoiding emissions of over 40m tonnes of carbon dioxide. That's the equivalent of taking about 60% of cars off our roads. Reporting to the Torness Power Station Operations department. The core duties involve chemical sampling, analysis and reporting. This is an opportunity to work in a high performing and experienced team. The hours of work will be 37 hours per week, Monday to Friday 08:30 - 16:30. Nature and Scope Full time position in the Torness Chemistry Team where you will be undertaking sampling and chemical analysis to support safe reliable operations. The job scope includes; sampling & analysis of coolant circuits, oils and effluents; supervising chemical tanker discharges; testing and issuing of confined space gas instruments; running lab QA and QC; ensuring lab chemical stocks; calibrating and cross checking instruments. Principal Accountabilities As a Chemistry Technician you will be responsible for: Ensuring safe and efficient sampling, analysis and result reporting. Ensuring quality-control standards of laboratory, plant and confined space instrumentation. Conducting laboratory techniques such as titrations, gas/liquid chromatography, UV/VIS spectrometry and ICP emission spectrometry. Preparing chemical samples, standard solutions and chemical dilution tanks. Reporting of anomalies to Assistant Chemists to instigate actions. Carrying out routine sampling and analysis in line with company, environmental and safety legislation. Managing laboratory consumables and adhering to high chemical safety standards. Carrying out chemical dosing and assisting bulk chemical tanker discharges. Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications, Experience As a minimum, entrants will be educated to National qualification standards (or equivalent). Candidates with passes in Chemistry, English and Mathematics will have an advantage. Relevant Highers (Maths and Chemistry) or appropriate industry experience also advantageous. To be based at their facility in Torness, the client is looking for 1 x Sample Technician to join the team ASAP. Pay rate - £12.00/hr PAYE Location – Torness, Dunbar Contract length – 3-6 months initially with possibility of extension Working week – 4 on / 4 off shift – 12hours (1hr unpaid lunch hour) Purpose of the Role As Sample Technician, the successful candidate will work with our unpacking team to receive samples and prepare them for processing in the laboratory. For each sample this requires: counting, sorting and unpacking the sample; checking any paperwork and recording any relevant information; barcoding each sample, scanning this into a database and compiling all samples into racks. The successful candidate does not require an in-depth knowledge of lab procedures but should understand the importance of following all lab regulations for health and safety, maintaining a clean workspace, and have a good track record of being competent, organised and working well in a team. Key Accountabilities • Sample management and data processing. • Unpack, classify and label samples • Scan barcode labels into a database • Classify and label relevant paperwork • Prepare samples for laboratory prior to their testing. • Comply with the correct procedures, policies, and health and safety regulations • Document all activities and report back to management. • Clean and sterilise equipment and work area. • Collect information needed for studies. • Work in compliance with Company Health & Safety policies and safe working practises. • Professional interaction with colleagues and clients as required.
