Rubicon consulting is currently recruiting for a Site Lead Planner for a 400kv substation build (Greenfield) on a 6 month contract based in Dunbar. The site lead planner is a member of the project core team: The ideal candidate will drive the project construction execution schedule to maximize results, facilitating delivery of the project on time, within budget, in conformity with the contract whilst managing the customer expectations. They are part of the Project Controls function and is expected to manage project schedules in accordance with the established global process, tools, metrics and operating rhythms. Responsibilities: * Providing site construction & commissioning schedule status to the Site Manager & site team, Project Lead Planner & PM * Develops and maintains the construction & commissioning schedule by integrating inputs from all functions, units and third parties contributing to the project * Ensure proper linkages in schedule to show all interdependencies between contributing parties * Delivers a high-quality schedule aligned with global standards to ensure project is accurately represented * Provides schedule analysis to determine project schedule risks and opportunities then works with project team members to drive risk mitigation strategies * Provides weekly site look ahead aligned with contract schedule, clearly communicating potential and real risk and driving the project priorities * Provides regular status reporting with forecasting and analytics to project team members * Identifies & drives solutions for engineering & procurement blockers with wider project team and third parties * Provides contractually required customer reporting and can communicate directly with customers on scheduling matters * Aligns with cost controlling function to ensure clear alignment between cost and schedule to ensure accurate * Support change order analysis with schedule analytics and forecasts * Organize/lead timely Planning Reviews with site project team and third-party subcontractors, to drive and challenge progress, agree forecast and share all schedules issues with defined/validated mitigation plan * Load resources into the project schedule * Support disputes and analysis of claims Requirements : - * Graduate Engineer * 5 years minimum of experience in planning management, * Must have 400kv substation build experience * Application of planning control principles (WBS, critical path, progress) * Application of planning tools (MS-project and P6) * Site located construction & commissioning planning experience * As a plus: * Carried out organizational and strategic planning process would be appreciated * Carried out Planning integration principles and methods * Carried out Contract management: made EOTs and supported negotiations * Carried out Risks management * Carried out Schedules “what if” analysis * Has Experience in Substations Please contact me for more information should this be suitable, alternatively, if you know someone who may be looking for a job like this, please feel free to pass this on. JOB TITLE: Mechanical Engineer LOCATION: Torness, Scotland RATE: Limited: £28 - £36 p/h / PAYE - £21.37 - £27.35 p/h Start August, Duration: 8 months+ Security: CTC (used within the last 12 months) THE ROLE: Working within the newly set up Fuel Route Acceleration Team (FRAT). The FRAT team is responsible for improving the reliability of degraded Fuel Route plant and apparatus. This shall be achieved by engineering and installing solutions to replace the degraded plant and apparatus. Additionally, FRAT Engineers shall identify and engineer enhancements to Fuel Route processes to improve their efficiency. The successful candidate would be responsible for overseeing projects by which degraded or obsolete plant and equipment are replaced with either like for like or modern equivalent components. Where replacement components are not like for like, the FRAT Engineer is required to author EDF Energy Engineering Change submissions which mitigate and justify the new components in terms of fit, form and function. Additionally, the Engineering Change shall substantiate that the replacement component does not degrade the Nuclear or Radiological Safety Case claims of the original design. The successful candidate would also be required to produce Installation and Test Procedures defining the methodology of the component installation and subsequent testing and commissioning. The FRAT Engineer would also produce EDF Energy Work Order Cards detailing the Task Instructions enabling Cavendish Nuclear Craftsmen to install and commission the new components. JOB TITLE: Mechanical Technician LOCATION: Torness, Scotland RATE: Limited: £22 - £28 p/h (LTD) / £16.89 - £21.37 p/h (PAYE) Start: July/August Duration: 8 months+ Security: CTC (used within the last 12 months) THE ROLE: The position would suit an individual motivated to succeed and comfortable working in a team environment. The role will involve working with a team of engineers and technicians in the completion of cradle to grave installations and modifications to plant and systems as part of a project investment delivery programme. Such responsibilities will include: 1) Report to the Cavendish Nuclear Site Supervisor/Engineer for all matters relating to quality and safety. 2) Undertake all work as instructed by the Site Supervisor/Engineer to the requirements of the task documentation (i.e. Work Order Card; Method Statement; Construction Plan; Risk Assessments etc.), with due care to minimise the potential for inadvertent disturbance to site plant or equipment. 3) Comply in addition to the above-mentioned documents, with all other relevant safety instructions as identified through the Project Supervisor/Engineer. 4) Perform work whilst avoiding danger to themselves and to others that might be affected by their actions. 5) Report all anomalies, safety hazards, plant damage and specific problems through the Project Supervisor/Engineer before proceeding further. 6) Refrain from defeating or interfere with, anything provided in the interests of Health and Safety (PPE, fire extinguishers etc.) 7) Use any plant and equipment correctly, and in accordance with training and instructions provided. 8) 'Build only to the Print' in compliance with the requirements of the design intent. 9) Adopt at all times the S*T*A*R*T principle. Stop, Think, Act, Review and Tell whilst engaged on all types of works on site. 10) Attend weekly Toolbox Talks on matters of safety and Company policy. 11) Participate in the production and review of Point of Work Risk Assessments. 12) Participate in the Pre & Post Job De-Briefs. The Mechanical Technician may be assisted in the execution of these duties by a team of supervisory staff. The services of site establishment e.g. quality, safety, administration etc. will also be available of which full use should be made.
