We are very pleased to be working on behalf of the Falklands Islands Government to appoint their new Education Manager for Camp Education located in the capital, Stanley. The position starts January 2020 and will offer the right candidate and their family the experience of a lifetime.
Education on the Falkland Islands is unique. The Islands have a small population, with big ambitions. It will be your job to help turn these ambitions into reality.
As Education Manager, you will be a member of the Senior Leadership Team and your main role will be to support the Principal in providing the very best leadership and management for the Falkland Islands Camp Education. This is a very hands-on position, and some teaching may be required.
Camp Education on the Islands
The capital if the Falkland Islands is Stanley, where over three quarters of the population lives - anything outside of Stanley is known as 'Camp' and his home to numerous farms and settlements across the archipelago. It is on these settlements that Camp Education is delivered by Settlement, Travelling Telephone Teachers. Teaching and learning at the schools follows the Early Years Foundation Stage framework and National Curriculum for England, enhanced by local content. Children take standard assessment tasks at the end of Key Stage 2.
The FIG and the island will offer a warm welcome to the successful candidate (and their family!) with a generous relocation package and accommodation at a heavily discounted rate.
Professionally, you will be a resilient and self-motivated individual, with qualified teacher status and proven and successful Primary teaching experience.
