This Maidstone School is an 11 – 18 Secondary School in the heart of Kent and has recently been graded ‘Good’, in all areas, by Ofsted. This Secondary School is part of a successful multi Academy Trust and is based on a beautiful site with a range of amazing spaces for teaching and learning. This School serves a creative and vibrant community which is passionate about music, art and culture. The school reflects this, and they will soon become the first choice for parents in Maidstone.
The role of a Biology Graduate Teaching Assistant will involve working within a successful and vibrant Science Department for the entire academic year. This will allow you to immerse yourself into a school-based environment before undertaking your initial Teacher Training – which will be held in the same school setting for the following 2 years. In your first year, you will purely be gaining experience working with KS3 and KS4 students within the Science Department and will be assisting them with lab-based work as well as working individually with some lower ability pupils. You will also be expected to help groups of students with experimental work.
To be considered for the position of a Science Teaching Assistant, you must be passionate about the subject and have a keen interest in Biology. You will be a Biology Graduate/Science Graduate with a 2:1 or above in your degree or have a A*- A grade in your Biology A Level. You must also have an A-C grade in your GCSE English, Maths and Science so you are able to undertake your teacher training.
