Role: Electrical Engineer Job Description: Electrical Engineer to work within the engineering design department at a working refinery to assist in the completing ongoing OPEX projects and minor CAPEX work. Required Skills / Knowledge: • Perform Site surveys. • Complete project design estimates. • Liaise with Project Engineers to produce design / construction deliverables for various refinery projects. • Working knowledge of electrical installations within hazardous areas. • Cable sizing and selection. • Complete protection studies. • Lighting design and selection. • Typical documents to be developed would include Cable Routing Drawings, Load Schedules, Location Plans, Cable Schedules, Single Line Diagrams, and processing associated QA/QC Test Documentation. • Preparing purchase specifications. • Address technical queries from the installation sub-contractor • Verify ‘as-built’ documentation post-construction. Qualifications: • HNC or equivalent in Electrical discipline • 5 or more years’ experience within the O&G industries. • Engineering Apprenticeship plus formal design office training • Experience on LV & MV voltages up to 11KV. • IET 17th Edition qualification. • Proficient in the use of Auto Cad • Proficient in the use of MS Word, Excel and Access

They will be required to work the standard hours based on 37 hours per week over the 9-day fortnight. They will be based in the Laboratory at the Refinery and be trained up to complete various product and sample testing in specific areas of the Laboratory. They would be part of a team of 28 (15 of which are on a 3 man shift rotation). Key Responsibilities include: Ensuring incident free operations through the effective use of the Loss Prevention System (LPS) Prioritisation of daily testing including validation, environment samples, batch, routine, test runs and external samples Timely accurate testing of samples and self checking of results for reasonableness Ability to provide routine equipment maintenance and repair Monitoring stock levels of laboratory supplies to ensure materials are noted for reorder to avoid timeout and delay in testing Completing tasks as assigned in the laboratory schedules including Safety and Quality Audits, SOP Reviews and Correlation Programs and where necessary represent the laboratory and provide technical input for both internal and external project work Ensuring that the work environment is left in a safe and suitable condition at the end of the shift and support Valero’s VPP Candidate Requirements A tertiary degree / diploma in Science is essential for this role. Also desirable would be: An understanding of good laboratory practice, including previous petrochemical laboratory experience A good understanding of the petrochemical refining processes Strong technical / professional problem solving skills and good communications skills (written and verbal) Strong personal drive for development and the ability to self-manage personal workload Ability to represent the laboratory on both internal and external working groups An understanding of ISO 17025

Desirable skills, qualifications and behaviours: * Degree qualified (desirable) or HND (minimum) in Control & Instrumentation, Electronic Engineering or similar * A minimum of 3 years project engineering experience as a contractor, client or consultant * 3 or more years’ experience within Oil and Gas or associated industries * Knowledgeable in current legislation * Ability to recognise and adapt to changing requirements * Excellent interpersonal skills * Assertive and articulate * Proficient in the use of MSOffice suite Responsibilities: * Provide project control from initial approval through to commissioning and operational handover * Ensure projects adhere to budget and schedule * Ensure projects meet their objective and are fit-for-purpose * Ensure all relevant safety objectives and legal requirements are observed * Evaluate, organise and prioritise within the overall schedule * Interpret project requirements, identify and address problems and ensure solutions are implemented * Liaise with and manage 3rd party design houses and vendors * Liaise with the procurement with regards to supply of equipment and services * Liaise with the construction team to resolve constructability issues * Ensure effective communications between 3rd party engineering, subcontractors, construction and project controls group * Verify 3rd Party design and construction estimates * Complete lessons learnt activities
